Every year, Golf Digest releases its rankings of the top 100 courses in the United States as well as the best courses in each state. Below are its top three courses in Arizona:

1. The Estancia Club - Located in Scottsdale, this 7,314-yard, par-72 ranked 74th on Golf Digest's list of America's 100 Greatest Courses. Designed by Tom Fazio, it was also named by the publication as the Best New Private Course of 1996. It's known primarily for its breathtaking views of natural desert terrain as well as its world-class club house.

2. Forest Highlands (Canyon) - This Flagstaff-based golf club has two top-10 courses in Canyon and Meadow, the latter of which is ranked eighth in the state by Golf Digest. Canyon, meanwhile, was created by Jay Morrish and Tom Weiskopf in 1986 and is a par-71, 7,001-yard course. It has been ranked among the top 100 courses in the world.
3. The Stone Canyon Club - Located in Oro Valley at the base of the Tortolita Mountains, this course has at least five different tee pads at each of its 18 holes and ranges in yardage from 5,100 to 7,300. It also includes a 107-yard, par-3 practice hole. In addition to recognition from Golf Digest, it was ranked No. 32 on Golfweek's 2017 Top Residential Courses list.
